Apply for Canada approval.

How to apply for TC (CANADA) approval to fly a drone legally, you may need to follow strict safety conditions outlined in an exemption or apply for permission from Transport Canada. It depends on the type of drone, its weight, as well as how and where you plan to use it.
If your drone:
  • Weighs 35 kg or more, you need to apply for a Special Flight Operations Certificate before you can use it.
  • Weighs less than 35 kg and is used for recreational purposes, you don’t need permission to fly.
Drones that weigh less than 25 kg may qualify for an exemption to the rules, which will allow you to fly without permission in Canada.

This document and the associate UAV exemptions apply to members of the public who operate a drone only if
a) it has a maximum take-off weight not exceeding 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds)
b) it has a maximum take-off weight exceeding 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds), but not
exceeding 25 kilograms (55 pounds).
If you cannot or choose not to operate under the either exemption listed above you must apply
